About Stay Outside

Hello and welcome to Stayoutsiderentals.com! We are so glad that you are here! We are the Indy Collins Clan: Curt and Jen Collins and our three kids! Like most of the world, our last three years have been a whirlwind! The Spring of 2020 began with a worldwide “stay at home” order because of the fear surrounding Covid-19. By the end of May, our family was going stir-crazy in our city condo. We had to get back to nature. So, we bought a camper and we named her Pearl. We started out with a few weekends here and there, trying our hand at camping, figuring out what our family needed and the best way to make our camping experience seamless and enjoyable. By the end of the season, we felt a little more like novices. Then we took a road trip from Indianapolis to Key West and we stayed there for a little over 3 weeks during the Holidays of 2020. We dipped our toes in a little by renting out our rig at the end of that summer and had about 8 reservations, using Outdoorsy’s platform to advertise and market reservations. We were hooked. By the summer of 2022, we had added two more campers to our RV line-up, Big Julie and Scout! Through various local campgrounds and friends, we filled our summer with creating camping experiences that people loved to experience and we felt great about executing.

At the end of the summer of 2022, we started dreaming about the possibility of creating a different kind of platform to connect RV owners with RV renters. We had heard from so many people regarding how disgruntled they had become with extra fees and third-party profit share rates. From Airbnb, and ViRBO to Outdoorsy, what appears to be an affordable stay, ends up costing so much more because of the extra fees charged by these “list for free” websites. We started to envisioned a web-based, membership-fee marketplace. RV owners can purchase an annual membership for $499 and then list their rig on this nation-wide marketplace to connect with those individuals who would like to rent an RV. No extra fees, no profit sharing, no big brother and no headache. Much like our logo, our goal is to kick it old school and bring back the classified ad, using the advanced connectivity of the world wide web, instead of a newspaper. We are simple people, with a simple goal to PUT more money in the RV owners pocket and to SAVE the RV renters money.

Kind Words from Happy Campers

Consistent & Continued Camping Experience!

Jen and her crew are the best! They are very accommodating and efficient.  I rented three different campers from her for my family and every one of them was spotless and very well equipped. I hope she stays in it for a long time to come.

Highly Recommend!

Rented Scout for the week of our county fair in July last year and the process was extremely easy.  The camper was delivered, setup, and had everything to go when we got there.  Had issues with the AC working properly, but Jen was so helpful throughout the whole process and was easy to get hold of with my questions and even offered to make the 2 hour trip back to get it going.  We ended up doing a few resets the night we got to the camper with the AC with Jen on the phone and it worked fine for the rest of the week for us.  Jen is a sweetheart and always quick to respond to any of my questions or concerns.  We have our camper booked already for our county fair this summer and are looking forward to it! Highly recommend.

RV Rental Business has Grown!

Stay Outside Rentals has helped my camper rental business grow. They understand my needs. Other similar sites want to take large percentages of every sale. Not only that, they then charge the renter additional fees. We are going into our second year working with Jen and her team at Stay Outside Rentals and plan on continuing this relationship for as long as we rent campers.
